Find hallmarked unique silver jewellery you love!
My name is Jill. I‘m based in Gloucestershire. I was a doctor in the NHS for more than 30 years. I enjoyed doing arts and crafts in my (limited!) spare time, including glass painting, recycling old jewellery into new pieces, and beading. When I retired, I seized the opportunity to learn silversmithing, and found my passion. I did a short taster course - well, half a course, as I was felled by Covid and missed the second half! I then taught myself, using books, on-line tutorials, and a lot of trial and error…There is nothing more joyful to me, than having an idea, taking sheet and wire silver, and using heat and tools (oh, so many tools!) to bring that idea to life. I hope the joy and passion I have for making hallmarked unique silver jewellery is felt by all who buy and wear it.
I design and make everything I sell, other than the simple chains for pendants, which I buy from a specialist supplier (if I made them they would be more expensive!), and the vegan leather thongs. Every piece of hallmarked unique silver jewellery is a one off made, by me at my workbench. Handmade items have more character than mass-produced items (in my opinion!) If you want jewellery that stands out from the crowd, something that nobody else will have, come on in!
When you order from me, you know that every piece has been handmade by me. I send everything I make to Birmingham Assay Office for hallmarking, which guarantees the quality of the sterling silver. Legally, any item of silver weighing more than 7.78g must be hallmarked, but I choose to have items weighing less than this hallmarked too. It was an eye-opener, as I learnt to make jewellery, to discover that a stamp saying 925 on silver jewellery means nothing- anyone can buy a stamp on eBay, and stamp it onto any metal. I am passionate about making jewellery that is beautiful, unique, verified silver, and, above all very wearable.
I love silversmithing. Every piece of hallmarked unique silver jewellery I make has a piece of my heart in it. I want you to feel the same joy in wearing it, that I get from its creation.
‘Hammer-born’ is a heavyweight but delicate solid sterling 925 silver bangle, weighing over 25 grams. The surface has been textured with hammering, which gives a gorgeous dimpled appearance, and it is completed with fold-formed creases.
£190
’Amethyst Waves’ is made from sterling 925 silver, which has been textured with a rolling mill to give a ripple effect. The stone is a triangular bezel set trapiche amethyst. Trapiche amethysts have bands and patches of varying colour within them, so the back features a cut-out to allow light to enhance the colour of the stone.
£145
‘Amethyst Tear’ is made from rectangular sterling 925 silver wire, forged into an expanded curve at the lower edge. The finish is mirror on the inner and satin on the outer surface. It is bezel-set with a beautiful light coloured amethyst, with the backplate pierced to allow light through the stone. It hangs on a chain that passes through the metal of the loop. The chain is included.
£150
’Shimmer Leaf’ is made from sterling 925 silver. It has the veins of a leaf very lightly textured on the surface, and has a small bezel set moss agate, with the pendant pierced behind to show the stone’s colour. The stem curls to make a loop through which is a soldered asymmetrical bail, allowing it to hang elegantly from a chain or leather thong. The back has a mirror finish.
£105
’Twisted Pleasure’ is formed from thick sterling silver 925 wire, with spirals to one side, and a small loop at the top which allows it to hang beautifully from a chain or leather thong. The thick wire has been filed and polished to a thinner diameter in the spirals.
£175 (Awaiting Hallmarking)
’Twist Around’ is made from thick silver wire with an asymmetric twist. It has a mirror finish, and has three small soldered rings to allow it to hang beautifully from a chain or leather thong.
£105 (Awaiting hallmarking)

Silver is commonly mixed with other metals to increase strength. Silver can have several standards. Sterling silver is the most commonly used, and contains 925/1000 parts silver, with the remainder being copper. Fine silver is 999/1000, Britannia silver is 958/1000. Argentium silver is 960/1000 .
The link above will take you to the dealers notice- information on hallmarking every jeweller must display.
Hallmarking is the best way to know the quality of precious metals. Not all countries have hallmarking. In the UK items are sent to one of the assay offices. The quality of the silver is confirmed and the item is stamped with stamps that show the quality of the metal eg 925. If a piece has silver and a base metal eg copper it will be stamped for the silver with +METAL. It is also stamped with the mark of that assay office (Birmingham is an anchor) More information can be found on the assay offices websites. I have all of my silver jewellery hallmarked, all though legally it is only required for silver items weighing more than 7.78 grams. Nowadays, it is not obligatory to have the date letter stamped on, but I choose to have this done, so if one of my pieces shows up on a future Antiques Roadshow, they will know when it was made! I also have my sponsor’s mark (which is a unique registered mark identifying the maker) stamped onto each item, as I am proud of my jewellery.
Silver tarnishes when exposed to air. Keeping it in its box, especially if an anti-tarnish strip is with it, can slow this. If tarnished, then using a silver cloth to gently polish it will remove the tarnish and slow further tarnishing. I include a silver cloth and an anti tarnish strip in the box of every piece I sell. Be careful of using strong silver polish, as it can damage some gemstones, and may affect textured surfaces. Avoid getting polish or chemicals on your jewellery, even bathing or showering with your jewellery on can sometimes cause problems.
Each item is wrapped in tissue paper, in a cotton bag, in a branded paper and cardboard box. A silver polishing cloth and an anti-tarnish strip will be in the box. The box will be tied with ribbon. This will then be posted, either via Royal Mail or a courier company, in a mailing bag. As much as possible of the packaging materials will be made from recycled materials. I aim for 100%. Most of the packaging materials are also recyclable.
Postage and packaging are included in the price of the jewellery and costs approximately £5 per item. If postage outside the UK is requested, this will entail an additional charge.
In the unlikely event that the jewellery breaks due to a fault in my making of the piece, please contact me, enclosing photographs ,and if these confirm that the breakage is due to faults in manufacturing, I will repair or replace it. If you damage it during use, please contact me, with photographs, and I will advise if it can be repaired, and the cost of doing so. If you have any problems, I want to know, as I take pride in my jewellery.
The majority of the sterling and fine silver I use is purchased from reputable bullion dealers in the UK. I only buy recycled silver, as this reduces the need for mining and extraction. A small number of items are made from sterling silver from repurposed silver eg spoons, napkin rings. In this case, the previous hallmarks are removed, and the finished item of jewellery is sent for hallmarking as normal. I will mention in the description if the item contains re-used silver, as I think this makes the piece even more special! I sometimes use copper, brass or gold with the silver, and try to use recycled metal for these too. Some of my copper is off cuts from a major manufacturer that would otherwise be scrap. I use recycled packaging sourced from companies with good environmental policies- and sometimes you may notice the envelopes have been used before! I think jewellery should be made and distributed with as little environmental impact as possible.
